Continuing Your Landlord Education
There is a saying, “Ignorance can be dangerous.” I agree, and apparently so do many landlords who are eager to continue learning about the business, even if they are already established.
In an ever-changing marketplace, new and seasoned landlords can benefit from continued education, whether in a formal setting or simply an exchange of ideas and information between colleagues. Keeping current with tax laws, state and federal regulations, and new management practices is one of the best ways to help your business succeed.
I know many landlords (including myself) who buy books, take classes or join associations as excellent ways to keep up with changes in rental property management. Associations are especially beneficial since they provide an instant network of fellow landlords. This network is one where you can learn and share your own experience in the business.
Keep in mind; any expenses incurred in the course of continuing your landlord education are tax deductible.
