Topic: Tenant left Utility not paid
Hi folks, here my problem. One of our tenants moved out and did not pay his gas bill, which was in his name. Now the gas company is trying to charge us for his bill and have put our company name on the bill. They were told he moved and the gas company even tried to reach him personnally and to no avail they can not find him. So they have decided to try and get the money from the landlord. There is no written agreement with this company that we take on a tenants bill. If we had to do this we would not be able to be in business. Can they do this? This is our first rentals. Please help. Thanks

i realize that this is a little late, but our utility companies tell us that we are not responsible for tenants' bills.
